Dynamic, proud and steeped in tradition, Vietnam’s attractions are as diverse as its history and weather. With three distinctive climatic regions; North, Central and South, there is always a good time to visit Vietnam.
In the south, energetic and fast-paced Ho Chi Minh City, still commonly known as Saigon, is Vietnam’s largest city, the commercial hub of the country. The lively floating markets and lush scenery of the Mekong Delta are but a few hours away, as are the white-sand beaches of Phan Thiet and the gorgeous island of Phu Quoc. Beyond the former French-era hill station of Da Lat, the Central Highlands are well and truly off-the-beaten-track and will suit the adventurous traveler whilst Nha Trang, with its vibrant nightlife, superb diving and snorkeling opportunities is justifiably the country’s most popular seaside resort.
UNESCO World Heritage status is abundant in Central Vietnam including the ruined Cham city of My Son and the ancient citadel at Hue are both members of this elite club whilst the beautifully preserved Old Town of Hoi An, which received its UNESCO status in 1999, is one of the finest historic trading ports in all of Southeast Asia.

Despite a turbulent modern history, Vietnam’s culturally rich capital, Ha Noi has retained much of its colloquial charm and is a testament to the proud people of this nation. When it’s time for a change, the multitude of islands and inlets that make up sublime Ha Long Bay are just 170km east of the capital. Lastly, Vietnam’s far north is home to ethnic hill tribes and lush green rice paddies. With just a few-hour train/bus ride away from Ha Noi, the pleasant hill town of Sapa is the gateway to the region and the base from which to begin exciting treks and day hikes into the surrounding countryside.
Captivating natural beauty, wondrous sights, world-class hotels and, of course, mouth-watering cuisine all ensure Vietnam is one of the most enjoyable countries in Southeast Asia. Add warm and friendly Vietnamese people into the mix as well as excellent travel connections from neighboring countries and further afield and you have a receipt for the perfect Asian holiday.
